Chicken Factory Site
After a lot of work and impassioned discussion, reports by the groups and sub-groups looking at the various aspects of Lochailort’s proposals for the site have been submitted. The responses are being co-ordinated by Councillor Alan Purssord for presentation to the council meeting on 8 May.
Shop Survey
This has attracted a lot of comment. The blue form was put out by Lochailort and has no connection with the Parish Council. The council is taking professional advice on the best way to consult parishioners further on this topic.
Path Around Church Mead
The Parish Council is delighted to announce it has obtained a grant of £7,000 towards making a ‘safe routes to school’ path round Church Mead. Thanks to Councillor Karen Baker for sitting through a very long meeting of the East Mendip Community Partnership and putting our case successfully.
Church Path Gate
It has not been possible to modify the fine new oak kissing gate made for the top of the churchyard path to fit a double buggy. The gate will be erected during the first half of May.
Planning
At its meeting at Farleigh Hungerford on 10 April the council recommended approval of:
plans to convert a garage to a kitchen, including a new mullion window and additional and replacement conservation rooflights at Church Cottage, Vicarage Lane, Norton St Philip
plans to install a roof light to the front roof slope, reposition a rear roof light and retain double doors in the rear elevation at 3 Norton Grange, Norton St. Philip.
Annual Parish Meeting
This is your meeting: an opportunity to hear what the Parish Council has been up to during the past year and to raise points of your own. It is hoped that local interest groups will also report. Come along to the Palairet Hall at 8pm on Thursday 15 May.
Next Meeting
Thursday 8 May, 7.45pm, Palairet Hall. All welcome.
